The highest earners and taxpayers of Bollywood

Many actors like Rani Mukherjee, Abhishek Bachchan have become household names thanks to the products they endorse. But there’s a price attached to this ‘benefit’ - tax. Shah Rukh tops the list of taxpayers among brand ambassadors this year.
Shah Rukh Khan
The actor topped the list of taxpayers among brand ambassadors this year, beating even cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who paid a service tax of Rs. 1.93 crores.

Shah Rukh Khan: Earnings per film

Actor Shah Rukh Khan, according to sources, earns approx. 6-8 crores per film, and about 6 crores through endorsement.

The actor, however, believes in paying tax, besides of being ‘generous’ to friends and colleagues. Shah Rukh is known to gift away cars and flats to his near and dear ones.


Amitabh Bachchan

Actor Amitabh Bachchan is the second highest taxpayer as brand ambassador, and paid Rs. 1.53 crores by way of taxes this year.

Amitabh Bachchan: Earnings per film

Amitabh Bachchan earns as much as Rs. 5 crores by way of ad commercials and is known to charge about Rs. 4 crores per film.

The man, at the age of 64 still rules the roost. And is also proving to be a good role model to his son Abhishek whose career has really picked up in the last two years.




Hrithik Roshan

Brand ambassador Hrithik Roshan paid a service tax of approx. Rs. 1.04 crores this year. The actor became a craze especially post his spate of success films - Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish.

Hrithik Roshan: Earnings per film

The actor has just signed a whopping 35 crores deal with Ad Labs and charges between 6-7 crores per film, approximately.

The actor is known to endorse brands he feels suits his image. And post Dhoom 2, Hrithik has become quite a craze among the masses.


Rani Mukherjee

Actress Rani Mukherjee is the highest brand ambassadress taxpayer and paid Rs.1.03 crores as tax. The actress has become a household name post films like Hum Tum.

Rani Mukherjee: Earnings per film
Rani Mukherjee is one of the highest paid actresses today. Extremely talented the lady, we hear, charges about Rs. 3 crores per film.

With performances like in Black, Hum Tum, KANK,it’s no wonder that the filmmakers are more than willing to pay the amount she demands.


Abhishek Bachchan
Actor Abhishek Bachchan paid Rs 98 lakhs as tax on his brand endorsement earnings. The actor has become famous of late with films like Dhoom, Bunty Aur Babli and Bluffmaster.

Abhishek Bachchan: Earnings per film

Bachchan Jr. earns about 4 crores per year through advertisement commercials. And charges about 4.5 crores per film.

John Abraham
Actor John Abraham paid Rs 79 lakhs as service tax on his endorsement fees. The actor endorses well-known respectable brand names that go well with his image.

The hunk charges about 3 crores per film. His price has increased after the actor has been involved in international projects.

Tax Department sources revealed that Saif Ali Khan paid Rs 70 lakh on his brand endorsement fees.

Saif Ali Khan: Earnings per film

Actor Saif Ali Khan’s fees per film amount to approx. 4 crores. The actor has pulled up his socks and become quite youth friendly what with his image makeover and right attitude.

This has also resulted in more brnad endorsements for the actor.


Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan makes 7-8 crores by way of advertising. However, how much he paid this year as tax remains unknown. The actor is also known for his creativity in commercials. You can’t expect anything ordinary out of this one.
